About the role:
CDA is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented dental lab CAD designer with a solid background in 3Shape or Exocad CAD software and a passion for creating high-quality dental restorations including; crowns, bridges and implant abutments. They are innovative, collaborative, and have a strong understanding of restorative dentistry and dental implant systems.
Requirements of the role include, but are not limited to this following:
1. Key Responsibilities
Ability to interpret and execute doctor prescriptions (Rx) and specifications for crown and bridge and implant cases.
Design models, copings, posterior and anterior crowns, bridges, custom implant abutments, and implant crowns.
Ensure accurate fit, function, and aesthetics for designs, meeting both clinical and patient-specific needs.
Collaborate with lab team (e.g., managers, ceramists, and other technicians) to ensure proper design.
2. Technical Skills
Knowledge of the digital dental manufacturing processes, including scanning, designing, and milling.
Knowledge of different implant systems (Straumann, Nobel Biocare, ZimVie, etc.) and implant design specifications
Proven experience in designing implant restorations such as abutments, crowns, and bridges.
Understanding of digital workflows for implant case planning, including guided surgery designs (if applicable).
Proficiency with 3D printing technologies, material selection, and post-processing techniques.
Strong grasp of dental anatomy and occlusion principles.
3. Communication and Collaboration
Coordinate with other lab departments (e.g., model room, scanning team, ceramists) to ensure smooth workflow.
Provide guidance or mentorship to junior technicians in CAD/CAM and implant design techniques.
4. Attention to Detail
Meticulous attention to detail to create precise and functional designs.
Ability to troubleshoot and adjust designs to address potential challenges in fit, function, or aesthetics.
5. Time Management and Workflow
Efficiently manage multiple design cases within tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
Flexibility to adapt to urgent cases or last-minute design changes as needed.
6. Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (required); an associate's degree or certification in dental technology (preferred).
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in dental laboratory design, with a focus on implant parts.
Proven hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., 3Shape, Exocad, or similar).
Familiarity with dental restorations, implant systems, components, and workflows.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
