A Manhattan drug store was slapped with heavy fines for price gouging in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic — for charging customers as much as $200 for a pack of 20 masks. The city’s Department of Consumer and Workers Protection is seeking $37,500 in fines from Metro Pharmacy, located at 931 Lexington Ave.. According to a release from Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office, the Upper East Side shop has been the subject of 23 complaints and has been hit with 75 violations over price gouging.
