Prince Harry and Meghan begin their farewell tour as 'senior royals'

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have attended their first joint engagement since announcing their intention to step down as senior members of the royal family, with Meghan saying, "it's very nice to be back".

Prince Harry and Meghan arrived at The Endeavour Fund Awards in London, stepping out from their car to near-blinding camera flashes and cheers from the hoards of crowds gathered to see them.

While the couple was embraced by fans awaiting their arrival, an audible boo was also heard from one person in the crowd, according to ITV's Chris Ship.

Meghan looked absolutely stunning in a fitted pencil dress by Victoria Beckham and navy Manolo Blahnik stilettos. Her hair was slicked back into a low ponytail and she carried a Stella McCartney clutch.

The duchess chose not to wear a coat despite the chilly London weather and drizzling rain. Prince Harry protected his wife from the weather with a large umbrella as they walked into Mansion House.

On arrival the couple signed the guest book before taking their seats inside the hall.

It is the third time Prince Harry and Meghan have attended The Endeavour Fund Awards, which honour injured veterans and servicemen and women who have achieved extraordinary milestones through sporting and adventure challenges.

It's the third year that I've had the incredible fortune of joining my husband here - as you all know, and can feel, it is just the most inspiring space," Meghan said.

"And when we were watching the videos all the way in Canada we had the same moment as you 'How are we going to choose?' so we've done our best."

They will attend the Mountbatten Music Festival at the Royal Albert Hall on March 7 before joining the Queen, Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on March 9.

Meghan will mark International Women's Day on March 8 but the details of that engagement are yet to be announced.
